Risk assessment & action planSafety

A risk assessment that shows how every risk is controlled

With this RI&E platform (RIE software) you can carry out the legally required risk inventory and evaluation, draw up the action plan and have the assessment reviewed externally, all in one file. For every item you record how it is controlled and with what evidence, and measures flow automatically to the central action list.

Features

What you do with Risk assessment & action plan

Base plus in-depth templates

Choose a broad base and add in-depth templates per theme or machine type. Each question shows the legal minimum separately from what a standard or guideline prescribes.

Substantiation when in order

When an item is in order, you record the existing measures per STOP level, with evidence such as a procedure, inspection report or photo. A named hazard is still scored with Kinney & Wiruth.

STOP wizard for measures

The wizard works through substitution, technical, organizational and PPE. At each level you add a measure with an owner and deadline, or record that it is already in place, not possible or not needed.

Exposure per job or department

Assess a risk per job or department. A matrix shows which group carries the heaviest load, and the risk follows the most exposed group.

Risks controlled per project

Risks such as working at height or lifting are assessed as a way of working, for example a TRA per project or an LMRA before starting. The evidence sits in the project file, with no project list in the RI&E.

Evaluation and external review

On the Evaluation tab you check whether measures work and assess the residual risk. A review link gives the occupational safety expert 30 days of read-only access, without logging in.

In practice

How it works

  1. 1

    Start the assessment

The new assessment wizard asks for the title, location, job or task, machines, templates, the person carrying it out and the prevention officer.

  2. 2

    Take inventory

Answer each question with in order, not in order or not applicable, with substantiation, evidence, photos and dated observations where needed.

  3. 3

    Plan the measures

Assess the risks and use the STOP wizard to choose measures with an owner and deadline. They flow automatically to Actions.

  4. 4

    Review and adopt

Share the review link with the expert, submit the assessment for approval and adopt it. Anything that still blocks adoption is shown up front.

  5. 5

    Evaluate and revise

Check effectiveness, assess the residual risk and start a revision, for example after a new machine, an incident or when the review period expires.

In the employee app

You can make an adopted assessment available read-only in the employee app: employees first see the risks that need attention and, for each risk, how it is controlled, with the existing measures, the way of working per project and the work instruction.

Standards and legislation

Where it helps you

BrydgeOne contains no text of the standards. Here you see which topics from standards and legislation this module helps you with.

Arbowet

The module covers the risk inventory and evaluation with action plan required by Dutch law; each question can show the legal minimum, such as an article of the Working Conditions Decree.

ISO 45001

An adopted assessment automatically counts as evidence for clause 6.1.2 in the standards framework.

How to prepare a risk assessment (RI&E): a step-by-step guideThe RI&E, the Dutch risk inventory and evaluation, is the foundation of your occupational health and safety policy. You map out the risks in your organization and what you do about them. This step-by-step guide helps you build an RI&E that is accurate, usable and kept up to date. RI&E example: a worked risk assessment for a small or mid-sized companyAn RI&E example shows in a few minutes what ten pages of explanation cannot: how risks, scores and measures fit together. Below we work out a risk inventory and evaluation (RI&E) for a fictional small company that supplies and installs products. How to make a risk matrix: example with scales, colour zones and worked scoresA risk matrix is a table in which you determine risk as likelihood times effect: you score the likelihood, score the severity of the consequence and read the result in a colour zone. You build one by first defining both scales in concrete terms, then linking a fixed action to each colour and scoring every risk again after the measures. Below you will find the steps, example scales and a worked example. Choosing RI&E software: what should an RI&E tool be able to do?Good RI&E software lets you carry out the RI&E digitally and keep it up to date: take inventory per department, assess risks on a fixed scale, follow up measures with an owner and deadline, and have the RI&E reviewed. An RIE tool is more than a form to fill in, because the value lies in follow-up and repetition. Whether your RI&E must be reviewed, and with which instrument you work, depends on your organisation.
Frequently asked questions

Questions about Risk assessment & action plan

We have thousands of projects. Do I have to confirm each project is in order?

No. In the assessment you evaluate the way of working per project once, for example a TRA per project and an LMRA before starting. The evidence per project sits in the project file, and compliance across all projects is shown with the risk.

How does the external review work?

On the review and adoption tab you create a review link that is valid for 30 days and works without logging in. The expert sees the file read-only and records findings and advice, which appear in your file straight away.

Can I create an assessment per site?

Yes. You set the scope of each assessment by location, job or task and machines, and create as many as you need. A large, long-running project can have its own assessment.

Does the assessment work without other modules?

Yes. With the assessment module alone, you record evidence with attachments and references. If you also use modules such as TRA, LMRA or Document management, the assessment links to them automatically.
