Permit to workSafety

High-risk work starts only after a verifiable release

A permit to work formally authorizes work with extra risks, such as hot work, confined space entry or working at height. A request is not yet permission: work may only start after release by someone with the right to issue permits, within the validity and conditions of that release.

Features

What you do with Permit to work

Templates per type of work

Adjust standard types such as hot work, confined space, work at height and excavation, or add your own. For each type you set the maximum validity and whether an approved TRA is required.

Request questions and release checks

The requester answers the request questions in advance; release checks, such as lockout/tagout or the fire watch, are done by the permit handler just before the start. A critical item that is not in order blocks the release.

Measurements with your own limits

Record measurements such as oxygen or the explosive limit, always with a unit and against your own lower and upper limits. BrydgeOne never fills in limit values itself.

Confirm TRA measures

If the type requires a TRA, only an approved TRA counts. At release you confirm that the measures needed before the start have actually been carried out.

Release with fixed validity

The review and release tab shows for each part whether it is ready. When you issue the permit, you set its validity, with additional conditions and a signature if needed.

Workplace card with QR code

Post a single A4 sheet at the workplace with the validity, conditions, measurements and confirmed measures. The QR code always shows the current status, without names.

In practice

How it works

  1. 1

    Request

An employee requests a permit in the employee app, a subcontractor via the general link, the QR code or a personal invitation. The request then has the status Requested.

  2. 2

    Handle

The permit handler takes on the request, completes the details, records checks and measurements, and links or reviews the TRA.

  3. 3

    Issue

Once all blocks are cleared, an authorized person issues the permit for a set period. At the start of that period it becomes active automatically.

  4. 4

    Report complete and close

The contractor reports the work as complete, and the handler inspects the workplace and closes the permit. Every step is logged with who and when.

In the employee app

Employees request a permit from the Permits tile in the employee app, see the active permit with its conditions and confirmed measures, and report the work as complete. Subcontractors do the same via a secure link without an account, where they can also draw up or link a required TRA.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Permit to work

Can subcontractors request a permit without an account?

Yes. They request a permit without an account via the general link, the QR code or a personal invitation. After submitting, they receive their own secure status link, also by email.

Is the release a second TRA?

No. The TRA determines the risks and measures. At release you only check whether the measures needed before the start have actually been carried out.

Can I change a permit after it has been issued?

Yes, by editing it and giving a mandatory reason. A substantive change to, for example, the work, location or period sends the permit back for review, and work stops until it is issued again.

What if two permits overlap at the same place?

If another permit is already issued or active for the same location or object in the same period, it is flagged as a possible conflict. It does not block the release: the handler decides.
