What you do with Skills matrix
Requirements per job role
For each job role you select which training and certificate types apply, as mandatory or optional. Only mandatory counts in the matrix.
Status per cell
Each cell shows valid, expiring soon, expired, planned or missing, based on the training register and open assignments.
Schedule gaps in one go
Scheduling missing training creates an assignment in one go for everyone who is missing something or whose training has expired.
Certificates count too
With Certificate management, mandatory certificate types appear in the matrix. A valid certificate of a linked type automatically counts as completed training.
Starter package for new hires
A new employee, or someone who changes job role or team, is automatically assigned the mandatory training for that role, with a deadline.
Automatic renewal
When mandatory training is about to expire or has expired, the platform automatically schedules a refresher with a deadline before the expiry date.
How it works
- 1
Define requirements
In the Training module settings, choose the mandatory and optional training and certificate types for each job role.
- 2
Read the matrix
The matrix shows the status per employee and per requirement. Red cells are expired or missing.
- 3
Schedule the gaps
Scheduling missing training gives employees an assignment with a deadline and a notification in the app.
- 4
Keep up to date and prove it
Completed training, toolbox talks and valid certificates fill the cells automatically. You export the matrix as PDF or Excel, with colour coding per cell.
In the employee app
Employees see their assigned training in the employee app under My training and take e-learning there or via a personal PC link. Their certificates are listed under My certificates.
Where it helps you
BrydgeOne contains no text of the standards. Here you see which topics from standards and legislation this module helps you with.

The matrix shows per job role which competence is needed and who can demonstrate it (clause 7.2).
Mandatory VCA certificates per job role show for each employee as valid, expired or missing.

Questions about Skills matrix
How do I quickly see who is no longer qualified?
In the matrix, red cells are expired or missing. Scheduling missing training sets the follow-up in motion straight away.
Do I need the Certificate management module?
No, the matrix also works with training alone. With Certificate management, mandatory certificate types are added, as their own column or through a linked course.
How does the matrix know someone's job role?
Through the job role on the employee record. Use the same role names as in roles and teams, and the matrix and starter package take them into account straight away.
Do former employees count?
No. Former employees no longer appear in the matrix and do not count towards the compliance figure. A checkbox brings them back into view, and their file is kept.
