What you do with Roles & responsibilities
Role register with role types
Record roles with a role type, such as governing, operational, supporting or monitoring, and the role that oversees it as owner. The role type determines how the register is grouped.
Responsibilities in three parts
For each responsibility you record what the role does, what it may decide or initiate, and what a good result looks like.
Role holders and deputy
Link a main role holder, co-holders and a deputy, each with validity dates. If the role name appears as the job title in an employee profile, the role also counts as filled.
RACI matrix per process
Set processes against roles with R, A, C and I: exactly one A and at least one R per process. Incomplete processes are flagged, and you can filter to show only those.
Alerts and periodic review
The register flags roles that are unfilled, overdue for review, without owner or without deputy. When you carry out a review you record the conclusion, and the next date follows from the frequency.
Export and log
Export the role register or the RACI assignments, with the meaning of each letter spelled out. The log shows every change to a role or RACI cell from old to new.
How it works
- 1
Create roles
Create a new role in four steps: role and role type, owner, description and summary.
- 2
Duties and authorities
Fill in the responsibilities in the role file: what the role does, what it may decide and what result is expected.
- 3
Link role holders
Link the main role holder and a deputy on the people tab, or let the job title in the employee profile fill the role.
- 4
Fill in the RACI
Click a cell in the matrix and choose the letter, or type R, A, C or I. Processes come from the Processes module, roles from the role register.
- 5
Review periodically
Set a review frequency and record in each review whether the role is still current.
Where it helps you
BrydgeOne contains no text of the standards. Here you see which topics from standards and legislation this module helps you with.
The three-part record of responsibility, authority and expected result per role is evidence for clause 5.3.
For clause 5.3 the role register shows who fills which role, with deputy and review history.
For clause 5.3 as well, the RACI matrix shows per process who is accountable and who carries out the work.

Questions about Roles & responsibilities
Are these roles the same as access rights?
No. These roles describe responsibility in the management system. Access roles, set in the platform settings, determine what someone may see and do in the platform.
An employee leaves. What do I need to do?
Only replace the role holder on the people tab, or update the job title in the employee profile. The role, its responsibilities and the entire RACI assignment stay as they are.
Can one role be accountable (A) for several processes?
Yes, that is common in smaller organizations, for example the managing director on the management processes.
Where else are the roles used?
Wherever the platform asks for an owner, such as for objectives, objects, processes and measurement planning, you choose a role instead of a person.
