What you do with Environmental aspects register
Guided aspect wizard
For each aspect you record the theme, environmental impacts, activity, location, situation and life cycle stage. Likelihood and severity (1 to 5) produce the significance score.
Significance with reasons
An aspect also becomes significant when a compliance obligation applies, it is not controlled or complaints are already known. You always see the reason, and a manual override requires a justification.
Effects matrix
Aspects set against environmental impact categories at a glance, with significant aspects in red. You can adjust the ten default categories in the settings.
AI draft list
AI suggests aspects based on your sector, processes, substance register, reports and inspections, and explains why. You choose to add, edit and add, or reject each one.
Missing aspects check
A signalling layer looks at your substance register, transport, reports, significant aspects without follow-up and compliance without evidence. It also works without AI.
Reviews and management review
When the next review date passes, the owner gets a task. The Management review button gives counts and lists as input for your management review.
How it works
- 1
Add an aspect
Click New aspect and work through aspect and impact, origin, and weighting and owner. The owner is a job role, not a person.
- 2
Assess significance
The system calculates significance. On the Assessment tab you switch to the extended view for a deeper assessment or a justified override.
- 3
Control and evidence
Record the control measures and note under compliance and evidence whether an obligation applies, together with the supporting evidence.
- 4
Create follow-up
If an aspect is significant and not sufficiently controlled, you create an improvement action or environmental objective straight away, prefilled and linked to its source.
- 5
Review periodically
Plan the annual review with the next review date and mark the aspect as reviewed once you have assessed it again.
A selection of what AI does in Environmental aspects register
AI proposes aspects and flags what is missing, and you add, edit or reject them.
Based on your sector, processes, substances register, reports and inspections, AI proposes a draft list with the reason for each proposal, and you add, edit or reject each one.
The signalling layer checks the substances register, transport, reports and compliance without evidence, and when AI is on it adds AI signals.
On the AI tab you ask, for example, which aspects are significant or where to set priorities.
This is a selection of the AI capabilities in this module, not everything. AI suggests, you decide. Nothing is applied without your approval.

Questions about Environmental aspects register
What makes an aspect significant?
A calculated score (likelihood times severity) above the threshold, your justified manual assessment, or one of the automatic rules, such as an applicable compliance obligation, an uncontrolled aspect or known complaints. Each significant aspect shows the reason.
How often should the register be reviewed?
At least once a year, using the review date per aspect, and whenever processes, substances or permits change. When the date passes, the owner gets a task to reassess the aspect.
Can I change the environmental impact categories?
Yes. An administrator adjusts the list and the significance threshold in the module settings. Existing aspects keep their ticked categories, and you can always return to the default list.
Does the register work across multiple locations?
Yes. With Copy you duplicate an aspect for another location or process, and with Filters you view the register per location.
