What you do with Traceability & recall
Three types of exercise
Record a mock recall, a real recall or a traceability test with the same form. You choose the direction of the trace: upstream to the supplier, downstream to the customer, or both.
Lead time and share traced
Record the planned and actual lead time in minutes, the percentage of product traced and the result: passed, partly passed or failed.
Evaluation and lessons learned
Describe what went well, what could be better and which follow-up actions are needed. With Create improvement action you put lessons learned straight into the central action list, with an owner and deadline.
Record EWS notifications
If an authority was notified, the EWS notification switch lets you record the date and the body, for example the NVWA or GMP+ International. Notified files are clearly marked.
Next exercise tracked
You enter the date of the next exercise. The to-be-scheduled counter and the calendar warn you in time, and an overdue date is highlighted in the overview.
Report attached to the file
Attach the recall or traceability report, to download or replace later. If you use Allergen management, you pick the product from that register.
How it works
- 1
Create an exercise
With New exercise you choose the type and enter the title, date, product, batch or lot, direction and scenario.
- 2
Carry out and record
After the exercise you record the lead time, the percentage traced and the result.
- 3
Evaluate
You describe the lessons learned and assign improvement actions in the action list.
- 4
Plan the next round
You attach the report and plan the next exercise, so the file is complete for the audit.
Where it helps you
BrydgeOne contains no text of the standards. Here you see which topics from standards and legislation this module helps you with.
Exercises with results and lessons learned serve as evidence for clause 8.9.5 on withdrawal and recall of products.
Periodic exercises and any notification via the GMP+ Early Warning System are recorded in the file as evidence.

Questions about Traceability & recall
What is the difference between a mock recall and a traceability test?
A traceability test only checks whether you can trace a batch upstream and downstream. A mock recall also simulates the whole recall process: communication, decision-making and lead time.
How often should we run an exercise?
Your certification scheme sets that, often at least once a year. Enter the date of the next exercise and the system tracks the deadline.
An exercise failed. What now?
Record the lessons learned in the evaluation and turn them into an action. Then plan a new exercise soon to show that the improvement works.
Can I also record a real recall?
Yes, with the same form, including the EWS notification with date and authority.
